KATHI HERRIN, AA, BFA 

 

Native Texan, Kathi Herrin, received her Associates in Art at Austin Community College Austin, TX and graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with a specialization in Ceramics. She took additional courses in ceramics at the Dougherty Arts Center, the Contemporary School of Art at LaGuna Gloria in Austin, TX. Herrin completed an internship under the direction of Judy Conroy, owner, Feats of Clay Austin, TX during the summer of 2016 and as a result was invited to join Feats of Clay as a studio artist and continued her practice through March 2018 at this wonderful studio in the lo-burn district of ATX. Herrin taught pottery classes in the studio February 2017-Feb 2018. 


Her passion for art is apparent! She has worked for years in various mediums that ranged from photography, painting, mixed media. She founded and operated her own fine art gallery 2008-2012 Real Gallery Austin. After closing the gallery, Herrin took a class in ceramics and fell in love with the medium of clay in 2012. This launched her into a journey that continues to ignite her interest. She has sold her functional and sculptural work in multiple shows and exhibitions. Herrin is honored to have a sculpture entitled "Breaking Wave" in the permanent collection at the San Angelo Museum of Art in Texas.  

Kathi continues to engage in the art scene, visiting art galleries and museums regularly. She is a member of the Greater Austin Clay Artists, The Texas Society of Sculptors,  the Bee Cave Arts Foundation and the Williamson County Art Guild.
